What does Artificial Intelligence (AI) mean?

Apple SIRI, Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa & self-driving cars are good example of artificial intelligence (AI) progressing. We seen in many Hollywood and Bollywood science fiction movies that AI as robots with human-like characteristics. Presently, AI can cover anything from Google’s Search Engines algorithms to IBM’s Watson to autonomous weapons.

The AI is is properly have two major areas at present:

Narrow AI (or weak AI) –  It is developed to perform a narrow task for example – only facial recognition or only internet searches or only driving a car.

General AI (AGI or Strong AI) – AGI and super intelligence all are basically same thing, and AGI is generally refer to the specific algorithm or ensemble of algorithms that can perform all the assigned tasks or better than humans.

Examples of Artificial Intelligence Technology

Presently, AI is integrated into a variety of different types of technology and has made its way into a number of areas. Here are few examples.

Education – AI can automate exam mark evaluation and grading, giving teachers more time to invest in some other area. AI may assess the students and familiarize to their needs, helping students work at their own pace. AI tutors may also provide additional help to students, which ensure they stay on learning track. AI could also change that where and how students can learn, perhaps in future can replace some teachers as well.

Personal Finance – The use of AI in personal finance applications is disrupting financial institutions. Applications can collect personal data and provide financial advice to the users. There are other programs also available, such as IBM Watson, it has applied the process of buying a home. Now days, computer software plays major role in trading at the stock markets around the world.

Robotic Process Automation – That makes a system or process function automatically. For example, the robotic process automation (RPA) can be programmed to perform high-volume task, repeatable nature tasks that humans will normally performed. RPA is totally different from IT automation in that it can adapt to changing circumstances. RPA are used in assembly line of many car production factories, it is also uses by big organisation to move large objects. Users are also using machine learning techniques to build robots that can interact in social settings.

Manufacturing Sector – This is one of the area that has been at the first in the list of in incorporating robots into its workflow. The Industrial robots used to perform single tasks and were separated from number of human workers, but as the technology is advanced that changed.

Self-driving Cars – The most typical combination of computer vision, image recognition  and deep learning technique to build automated skill at pilot a vehicle while staying in a given lane and avoiding unexpected obstructions, such as pedestrians and other vehicle. It also helps in direct to the vehicle turn on the directions

Business – RPA is being applied to mostly repetitive tasks normally performed by humans. Machine Learning (ML) algorithms are being integrated into analytics and CRM platforms to gather and process the information on how to serve customers in better way. The Chatbots have now been incorporated into websites that collects leads and provide immediate services to customers.

So, the Artificial intelligence (AI) is an area of computer science(CS) that emphasizes the creation of intelligent machines that work and react like us i.e. HUMANs.
