Autumn Term

Autumn Term is the first/odd semester of an academic session/year.

APPLIED CHEMISTRY LABORATORY- I

Practical exposure through use of various apparatus to know their handling, working and apply the same to validate theoretical concepts in applied fields.

Course Outcomes:Through this course students should be able to

  • identify applications of chemistry.
  • reproduce the knowledge of chemistry and learn handling the laboratory apparatus.
  • develop the creativity to identify, analyse and interprete results from the observations.

APPLIED CHEMISTRY-I

Focuses on the fundamental concepts and principle involved in applied chemistry and provides understanding of applications of these concepts in related fields.

Course Outcomes:Through this course students should be able to

  • classify various substances based on state of aggregation.
  • observe the fundamental concepts involved in chemical reactions and bonding.
  • prepare solutions of required concentrations.
  • visualize the knowledge of chemistry involved in the analysis of water.
  • define the basic theories of electrochemistry.
  • express the classification and nomenclature of organic compound.

APPLIED MATHEMATICS-I

Provide strong base to use basic mathematics in solving engineering problems. Focuses on complex numbers, binomial theorem and trigonometry.

Course Outcomes:Through this course students should be able to

  • Practice engineering problems that are in matrix format by applying the basics of Matrices and their properties, which are usually less computational. The concept of rotation of a vector using iota will enable them solve many engineering problems.
  • Subdivide and resolve a fraction to further fractions by applying concepts of Partial Fractions. They will be able to apply this knowledge in Integral Calculus. They will practice elementary logarithm problems for solving engineering problems.
  • Apply the basics of Permutation and Combination concept in understanding of Binomial Theorem and demonstrate better reasoning in different analytical situations. They learn and apply conversions of one angle measure to another in solving problems.
  • Outline and solve related problems like constructions of roads, dams, bridges and calculation of height, distance, elevation etc.
  • Calculate with the use of coordinate geometry, to explore and evaluate the idea of location, graph, linear relationships between two forms, and distance between two lines, which will be useful in solving engineering problems.
  • Practice the equations of a geometric shape used in many engineering problems such as circle.

APPLIED PHYSICS LABORATORY- I

Inculcates the understanding of experimental physics through experimental exposure on various phenomenon related to heat and properties of matter.

Course Outcomes:Through this course students should be able to

  • apply concepts and describe scientific phenomena
  • outline and verify fundamental laws of physics
  • use the vernier caliper and screw gauge for measurement

APPLIED PHYSICS-I

Inculcates understanding of fundamental concepts of mechanics and its applications and focuses on laws which govern linear and rotational motion.

Course Outcomes:Through this course students should be able to

  • identify physical quantities, parameters and select their units for use in engineering solutions and make measurements with accuracy by optimizing different types of errors.
  • represent physical quantities as scalar and vectors, analyze and design banking of roads/railway tracks and apply conservation of momentum principle to Explain rocket propulsion, recoil of gun etc.
  • apply fundamental principles of physics to solve problems and drive work, power and energy relationship and solve problems about work and power.
  • compare and contrast the physical properties associated with linear motion and rotational motion and give examples of conservation of angular momentum.
  • visualize the concepts of mechanics and solve statics problems that involve properties of matter.
  • express physical work in term of heat and temperature, distinguish between conduction, convection and radiation.

BASICS OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Provides basic knowledge on the applications and aspects of the Information technology in solving real world problems. Students will also learn about input and output systems, computer hardware and operating systems.

Course Outcomes:Through this course students should be able to

  • Identify the fundamentals of computer system for using various hardware and software components
  • Use the computer and its various application software like office, excel
  • Develop interactive mail merge application for sending mass emails
  • Apply conditional constraints for data filtering

ENGINEERING DRAWING–I

Provide introductory understanding of number important techniques in terms of the instrumentation, working principles, and information obtained and possible analysis of the materials by covers structure analysis tools, microscopy techniques, thermal analysis technique, electrical characterization, magnetic characterization, and optical spectroscopy.

Course Outcomes:Through this course students should be able to

  • identify and understand the fundamentals of Engineering Drawing
  • describe ,read and intepret engineering drawing
  • describe and draw orthographic drawing and isometric drawing

ENGLISH AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS -I

This course enables the leraners to understand and apply the conventions of academic writing in English. It enables the learner to use grammatical structures accurately and helps them to learn the usage of variety of sentences.

ENGLISH AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS-I LABORATORY

This course enables the learner to communicate effectively in real life situation. Further it helps in enhancing the speaking skills in formal and informal contexts

GENERAL WORKSHOP PRACTICE

This course will give an understanding of methods, tools and techniques applied in product design. It includes overview of innovation, product design process,user study, problem identification, development of design brief, understanding competitive benchmarking, aspects of human factors in product design.

STUDENT CENTERED ACTIVITY-I

Introduction to learning experiences, instructional approaches, and academic-support strategies that are intended to address the distinct learning needs, interests, aspirations, or cultural backgrounds of individual students. This course will build up the personality of the students.
