As per the latest political happening in Poland, this time, there has been a really intense race for the election of the president. Andrzej Duda Won 2nd Term for polish President!! Duda is the first president of Poland to receive more than 10 million votes since 1990!!

Before becoming the president, Andrzej Duda was an active member of the Polish Lower House (Sejm). He served here from 2011 to 2014 and the European Parliament from 2014 to 2015. He was also the presidential candidate for the Law and Justice party (PiS), during the 2015 presidential election in May 2015. Duda has promised to protect the polish traditional families, which boosted him in a fierce challenge from Rafal Trzaskowski.

This immensely close fight revealed few deep divisions, but Duda’s victory cleared the path. Now, that he is elected as the president, the Poland government is about to continue with a nationalist agenda that critics fear, which is also undermining the democratic institutions. Duda scored 51.03 % votes whilst the opposition party has scored 48.97%.

The opposition party Rafal Trzaskowski (the liberal mayor of Warsaw), has blasted on this presidential election result. He said that this is an unfair election. H Rafal Trzaskowski has very narrowly lost to the conservative president.

Mr. Duda was narrowly elected to another term after the votes were counted, following the country’s closest presidential election since the end of communist rule in 1989. This act undoubtedly has cleared a potential obstacle for the conservative nationalist government.
